FIREFIGHTERS battled for two hours to save a cotton mill after a stray spark started a spectacular fire.
At the height of the blaze at J H Birtwistle in Grane Road, Haslingden, one of the 36-strong night crew was feared missing.
He had earlier escaped through a back door.
