THE District Auditor's final verdict on the Crinkley Bottom affair could be just weeks away, the Citizen can reveal.
Four people have made oral representations to the auditor after his preliminary report and, although he is still receiving written representations, the Citizen understands that Clive Portman expects to reach a final decision this summer.
Mr Portman's report will include his decision, statement of reasons and a public interest report on the £2 million Blobbygate debacle.
It will finally reveal which - if any - councillors or officers are guilty of wilful misconduct and who, if anyone, will be forced to pay a surcharge.
The investigation, which has cost more than £ 500,000, began in August 1998.
