ROSE Queens from all over Rossendale are invited to show off their best outfits and take part in the borough's carnival next month.

Organiser Peter Gill, who is also Rossendale Town Crier, said: "I am appealing for rose queens from Rossendale -- and anywhere else in East Lancashire to come along and join in the parade.

"Last time we had one from Wales who came along and so the invitation is open to everyone.

"I am also keen to hear from any charities that want to walk in the procession to promote awareness of their good causes and fly the flag."

Peter said he would also welcome any equestrian centres who wanted to send horse riders to the carnival -- last year there were some horses from a production by Bacup Amateurs of Annie Get Your Gun.

Anyone who wants to get involved in the parade on June 23 walking from Stacksteads to Bacup can contact Peter on 07970 389830 or collect an application form from the Tourist Information Centre in Kay Street, Rawtenstall.
