A COUNTRY show which will be celebrating the Queen's Golden Jubilee is on its way to be saved thanks to a variety of events.
Organisers of Ramsbottom Country Show were hoping that a lottery bid would help fund the event at Nuttall Park but when that bid failed they called for donations.
Now, with just two weeks to go organiser Linda De Ruitjer said: "Our fund-raising dinner with BBC North West Tonight presenter Martin Henfield was a great success with in excess of £1,300 made for the save the show campaign.
"This added to the donations and monies promised so far and advanced bookings for the country show brings the total so far to £3,900.
"The area board has promised £1,000 but this amount still leaves a shortfall of approximately £1,500 to finance posters, banners and printing costs.
"We also want to make donations to the sea and fire cadets for help at the show and also provide resources for children's activities, overnight security and sundry items for tape marking."
The show will be on June 3 from 11am to 5pm and anyone wanting to hold a charity stall can contact 01706 827354 or 01706 827602.
To enter a fun dog show or a pet show contact Rossendale Council animal warden David East on 01706 244552.
