A MAN who shook a baby girl so hard that she was permanently disabled has been jailed for four years.
Wesley Sandham, aged 24 and formerly of Tyldesley, admitted shaking the 22-months-old toddler in an attempt to stop her crying.
Bolton Crown Court heard Sandham, who had also lived in the Tonge Moor area, had been drinking and smoked cannabis after being left alone to care for the girl.
The child, now aged three and who cannot be named for legal reasons, cannot walk unaided and has only limited use of her right hand.
Doctors feared for her sight after she suffered retinal damage in the incident but recent reports suggest her eyesight is returning to normal.
