LEIGH Athletic won the Atherton Charity Cup with a 2-1 extra time victory over Breightmet United.

The Bolton side looked to have clinched it after breaking the deadlock on 85 minutes through John Lister but a brilliant overhead kick from Leigh substitute Neil Keegan took the game to extra time.

Latics excellent work at set piece play paid off when Gordon Spowart fired a superb winner into the top corner. Leigh,s Gordon Walker was named man of the match.

Seven Stars won the Division Three Cup Final with a 7-3 win over Clifton Rangers. Russell Lord caught the eye in a big way with five of the goals, the other two coming from Wayne Jenkins, Gary French (2) and Jamie Taylor replying.
