WELL done to a group of energetic sixth form students from Baines School who have just completed a gruelling 170-mile coast to coast bike ride and raised £1,400 for The Christie Hospital.
The Bridlington to Blackpool ride took three days of hard cycling to complete and included a punishing 65-mile stint across the Pennines. As the school has lost two students to cancer in recent years, the 11 Poulton teenagers had a special reason for tackling the difficult scenic route.
Ride organiser Andy Cotterall said: "I am very proud of them. It was a hard ride in difficult conditions and they had to contend with punctures plus a buckled wheel."
