THE classroom rather than the sky could be the limit for pupils at a Blackburn primary school who face losing the chance to study the sun, moon and stars because they cannot find transport for their summer field trip.
The year five students at Sacred Heart RC Primary School could face having their trip to Jodrell Bank in Cheshire cancelled because staff have been unable to find the wheels to get them there.
The school's usual minibus from St Bede's school is unavailable as it is having an MOT then and all other high schools in the area are using their minibuses for summer trips.
Because there are only 15 students in the class, asking them to pay the cost of hiring one could put the trip out of reach of many of them.
Headteacher Paul Heaton said: "Learning about the solar system is part of the National Curriculum.
" It is no use learning about it in the classroom; they need to have some concrete experience.
