MAGISTRATES fined a Leigh based company a total of £3,600 for failing to comply with waste regulations.
W L Corbett Limited of Bedford Square, Leigh, manufacturers of paper-based packaging products, was also ordered to pay costs of £887.98 to the Environment Agency, who brought the prosecution.
David Bradley, prosecuting for the Environment Agency, said the company had saved around £4,500 in 2000 by not complying with the rules, designed to reduce the amount of packaging material thrown away.
The company pleaded guilty to two offences under the Producer Responsibility Regulations 1997.
