READING the Northern Premier Division One cricket table isn't a pretty prospect for Preston fans with the team lying bottom, seven points adrift with four games gone.
And Saturday's match at West Cliff gave no indication that things are going to get much better.
Leyland & Farrington, on the other hand, will be boosted by their display over the local rivals.
Batting first Preston were skittled out for just 99 and offered no resistance to the Leyland & Farrington bowlers. Five batters managed to make it into double figures, but after Anson, caught Williams off Koortzen for 20, and Akbar, caught Pallett off Tennant for 15, surrendered their wickets there was little to shout about.
Indeed it was the Leyland & Farrington captain Brian Tennant who led by example, taking the scalps of Clayson, Richardson, Akbar and Boswell for 25 runs. Pro Koortzen ended with figures of 2 for 7 runs, as did Neil Rimmer.
Akbar bowled Leyland openers Bavla and Patel cheaply, seven and 12 respectively, but Koortzen weighed in with an impressive innings of 64 to make sure of the points. Leyland finished the innings on 100/3, a seven wicket victory.
