THE landlord of a Longton pub will appeal against council legal action trying to force him to pull down a play area.
Roy Heaney, licensee of the Red Lion pub on Liverpool Road, built a £15,000 children's playground. But a mix-up meant nobody applied for planning permission. A retrospective application was then refused by South Ribble Borough Council.
Now council planning officers are sending the pub an enforcement notice, following a meeting on Tuesday night.
If Mr Heaney failed to appeal against the notice, he will be forced to take down the play area.
Mr Heaney said: "If it comes down then we are out of business. We would lose everything.
"We are doing everything we can and we will compromise."
