BY GEORGE! There's a new exhibition at Lytham Heritage Centre. Veteran actor George Sewell and his stage mate Lionel Blair popped in to the Henry Street centre to officially open The Glorious Grand Theatre exhibition in between appearing at the Grand itself in Who Killed Agatha Christie.
The Glorious Grand is a mixture of history and memorabilia lovingly collected over the years by theatre archivists Linda and Geoffrey Tolson and before them Linda's father Charles Farrow.
This is the first time that photographs, posters, paintings and programmes etc from the theatre have been on show to the public in the same place at the same time and out of the Blackpool area.
And Dr David Locke of the Heritage Centre said: "Our aim is to promote the Fylde and the heritage of the area. One of our members is Burt Briggs who is also a founding member of the Grand and the director of the Grand Theatre Trust, so the two just came together perfectly."
Mr Sewell said of the exhibition: "I'm delighted to formally declare this exciting history lesson open. It's a nice tribute."
And Lionel added: "Please support the theatre in this Jubilee year. Anything that keeps the theatre alive is very important."
The Glorious Grand runs at Lytham Heritage Centre from Tuesday to Sunday until June 9. Admission is free.
