APPRENTICE engineer Paul Dugdale will be enjoying a double celebration this summer.
Paul, an apprentice plant engineer, has won a training award and has been selected to help ensure the smooth running of key events in the Commonwealth Games.
Paul, 20, who works for Castle Cement at the company's Ribblesdale works, has studied at Blackburn College for his Higher National Certificate on a day release basis for the past two years.
And he has also received the Institute of Plant Engineers' Award for Outstanding Achievement in plant engineering.
To mark his achievements, bosses at Castle Cement presented him with a trophy and £30 in vouchers.
Paul is looking forward to finishing his apprenticeship in the summer, but his thoughts will quickly turn to sport as he plays a major role behind the scenes for some key events in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
He said: "I have been part of a team that helps to organise the northern area mountain bike series and we've been asked to organise the cross country event at the Commonwealth Games."
He added: "It's a great honour . I've been sponsored by Castle Cement for the games so I'll get time off with pay."
