A MAN who spent the day drinking to try and drown problems with his 10-year romance ended up being thrown out of the pub and arrested by police.
Graham John Whittaker, 34, of Kingston Place, Lower Darwen, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over to keep the peace for 12 months.
A charge of being drunk and disorderly was withdrawn.
Wendy Chappell, prosecuting, said police had spoken to Whittaker outside the British Queen in Duckworth Street and advised him to leave and not return.
When police were called back shortly after Whittaker had returned and he was arrested after becoming abusive.
Ian Huggan, defending, said Whittaker had been with his fiance for 10 years but there had been problems between them. "He had been out on the day of this incident and had far too much to drink," said Mr Huggan.
