I AM overjoyed to learn that the RSPCA Animal Home has earned a three month stay of execution to give fund raisers extra time to try to save it from closure.
I know there are still some people who think Headquarters should help out, but the bottom line is they won't and it is up to us -- local people -- to save it. I would like to appeal to everyone to please think of all those sad and bewildered eyes and empty lives of the animals who are there through no fault of their own.
This home is their salvation and the last chance of finding a new life. We must not let them down.
Please help by becoming a supporter, it only costs 50p a week and everything contributed goes directly to the home for the benefit of the animals. You will receive a Welcome Pack, membership card and "paws" badge on joining and receive two newsletters a year informing you of the developments within the branch.
You will also receive invitations to social events arranged for supporters.
If you cannot help financially, would you consider giving some of your time on a regular basis to work in the charity shop on Talbot Road and help keep the till ringing? Just three hours a week would be helpful.
It won't cost you anything, but you will still be helping to raise money. I can tell you from experience, Les and the girls are a lovely bunch of people who are a joy to work with, time passes quickly and there is a constant supply of tea or coffee.
Please do whatever you can to help the animals in their darkest hour -- they have been let down once in life, let's not make it twice.
