INDIAN professional Kabir Khan was the spark that fired Kendal to victory over Leyland Motors, leaving the away side second from bottom in Division One.
Leyland Motors started brightly, dismissing Kendal openers Cooper and South for 7 and 10 respectively, and then taking fourth in line Little for seven.
However, staunch stands from Hunte (43), Howarth (19) and Fallows (35) set Kendal's stall out before Kabir Khan weighed in with an impressive 53 not out to leave the home side on 197/7.
Leyland got off to the worst possible start when Aspinall was caught lbw by Khan for a duck.
Baines, Ashraf and Catterall helped the total with knock of 18, 35 and 15, but fell short just when they looked like bedding in for a while.
And it was a similar story for Makinson (19) , Cummings (10), Iddon (15) and Lilley (18).
Leyland fell short of the total, finishing on 150 all out.
