A 23-YEAR-OLD man found to have traces of heroin and methadone in his system died of natural causes.
An inquest heard that Carl Thomas Brown died as a result of an acute asthma attack and while the drugs would not have helped his condition they were not responsible for the attack or his death.
The dead man's mother, Janet Musker, of Infirmary Street, Blackburn, said she believed that whoever supplied her son with heroin had contributed in some way to his death. But pathologist Dr Richard Prescot said the medical cause of death was an acute asthma attack and the toxicity of heroin, methadone and codeine was secondary.
"He would have had the asthma attack whether he had taken the drugs or not," said Dr Prescott.
Deputy coroner Carolyn Singleton recorded a natural causes verdict.
