POLICE are warning pensioners to be on their guard after a couple got into an old lady's house by posing as charity workers from Age Concern.
The man and woman gained entry to the house in Shearwater Drive, Blackburn, on Wednesday.
The couple talked their way in, but eventually left empty-handed.
DC Kathryn Duckworth said: "We would urge the elderly to be vigilant and report any suspicious callers to the police immediately."
Vicky Shepherd from Age Concern said: "None of our staff or volunteers ever visit people at home without having a regular arrangement in place or by telephoning first.
"People should not worry about offending callers - our workers will be happy to wait while you call our office to check their identity."
Anyone who has had a visit from people saying they are from Age Concern is asked contact DC Duckworth on 01254 353572.
