COMEDIAN Peter Kay has broken all box office records at Blackburn's King George's Hall after his one-man show in September sold out in less than an hour.
Fans clamouring to see the Bolton-born funnyman swamped the box office with calls for tickets the moment they went on sale at 9am yesterday morning.
By 10am, the 1,800 seat venue had sold out, making it the fastest sell-out ever at King George's Hall.
Geoff Peake, manager at the town centre entertainment complex, said: "It has been phenomenal. Peter Kay has sold out faster than Robbie Williams, Paul Weller and Ian Brown. We knew that demand for tickets would be high but it has even taken us by surprise.
"For a comedian to sell faster than a rock act is even more remarkable, particularly when you consider he is playing other venues in the area as part of a national tour."
With the show on Friday September 20 now sold out, a second Blackburn date was quickly arranged yesterday for Wednesday, November 6.
"We had an idea that the show would be a sell-out and made a provisional arrangement with the promoter that if this was the case we could have a second date," said Mr Peake. "We are making all callers aware of the second date when they ring and that is selling out fast."
He will be taking in 50 dates around the country starting in September, his first national tour.
Tickets for the King George's Hall date are £15 and the box office number is 01254 582582.
