A WHEELCHAIR friendly circular trail has opened at Clowbridge Reservoir.
The 3km of waterside track, designed and built by Lancashire County Council's Countryside Service in consultation with off-road wheelchair group Broadening Our Horizons, links parking areas at Clowbridge and Limey Lane.
Featuring new bridges, ramps and specially designed gates, the trail allows access for walkers of all abilities and offers views across the water and over the newly-planted Dunnockshaw Woodlands.
The £40,000 scheme has been supported by United Utilities, the Millennium Commission, the Countryside Agency and Lancashire County Council.
It was opened by by County Councillor Tim Ormrod, cabinet member for public protection and the countryside, who said: "The council is keen to help and encourage people with disabilities to access and enjoy our countryside."
