IWAS appalled by Hyndburn Conservative group leader Peter Britcliffe's comment (LET, May 8) that Mrs Sandra Hayes will bring style and quality to the mayoralty. Is he insinuating that the current mayor and mayoress don't? Or that Mr and Mrs Derek Scholes, who would have been mayor or mayoress had he not lost his seat, wouldn't?
