BURNLEY Borough Council is reminding residents to pay their council tax on time after bills were delivered to homes in the borough.
The first instalment was due on April 16 and the council says all council tax payers who have not paid on time will be sent a reminder notice and, if payment is still not forthcoming, a court order will be issued along with a costs liability of £50.
Burnley Borough Council's director of finance said: "The great majority of Burnley residents pay their bills on time and we are grateful for that.
"If anyone can demonstrate they have genuine difficulty in meeting their monthly instalments it is important they contact the local taxation unit immediately on 01282 425011, extension 2902 and 2903, so we can try to help."
