Clarets striker Dimitri Papadopoulos was left on the bench for the Greek Under-21s against France yesterday afternoon as they lost 3-1 to France.
Now he will be hoping to be back in the starting line-up for the final group game against the Czech Republic tomorrow night as they aim to salvage something from the tournament.
Despite losing their first two games the Greeks can still make the last four if they beat the Czech's and France make it three wins out of three against Belgium.
Papadopoulos had played the full 90 minutes in the opening game against Belgium having been a regular starter throughout the qualifying programme but he missed out yesterday, not even coming on as a sub.
Back in England the continuing effect of the cash crisis hitting football has meant that transfer activity across the whole of the Football League continues to be very slow as clubs monitor the latest developments.
Burnley boss Stan Ternent has been linked with moves for a number of players but must continue his wait and see policy before strengthening his squad.
The Clarets were quick to knock down rumours of a move for the out of contract former Manchester United goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw last week although the release of Luigi Cennamo does make a stopper a top priority.
But suggestions have resurfaced that Ternent may be keen on bringing another out of contract player to Turf Moor, Darlington's left back Paul Heckingbottom.
The defender, who started his career as a trainee with Manchester United, will be 25 this summer and he joined the Quakers from Sunderland four years ago.
Norwich City, who pipped the Clarets to a play-off spot, are also being linked with a move for him but Canaries boss Nigel Worthington is in a similar position to Ternent, unsure what budget he will be working with next season.
Ternent's predecessor at Turf Moor, Chris Waddle, is one of the men being linked with the vacancy at Spotland following John Hollins' departure from Rochdale.
Waddle had an unhappy season as the player-manager of the Clarets and since then he has worked in the media as well as for his former club Sheffield Wednesday.
