IN response to Civic Society chairman Doug Chadwick's view that Blackburn Station would win a Civic Pride award (LET, May 9) I say: 'Never!'
Yes, it was the pride of the town, but the new station, or bus stop, which is what it looks like, is, to say the least, miserable -- cold, unwelcoming and certainly not the railway station that once adorned the town.
It is nothing like the Victorian Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway building, with architecture that we will never see again. How sad!
There is not a single thing about this building that is what it used to be -- a station Blackburn once was proud of.
S HEARNE, Blackburn.
