REGARDING all the tabloid exposure the British National Party received before, during and mainly after the local elections, both nationally and regionally, as an impartial yet slightly bewildered reader, I think all the negativity about how the BNP will do nothing except aggravate and infuriate racial issues.
For the past nine years I have refrained from putting myself on the electoral roll, trying to remain impartial and opting to take a back seat until now.
But I find myself leaning slightly to favour the BNP, if only because the prejudice and bigotry they are accused of is being shown by the other parties and to their followers who are doing exactly the same to the BNP by refusing to even acknowledge their views, however radical and extreme.
After all is said and done, it was the votes of the people within these wards and communities that put them where they are. So I think all the other parties concerned could at least treat these councillors with the respect that they deserve.
If anything is going to change, the prejudice and bias within the council has to stop before the town can make progress.
