SCUNTHORPE boss Brian Laws wants to sign veteran Welsh striker Mark Hughes, after the 38-year-old was released by Rovers last week. .
Hughes, who has indicated a desire to play on next season, held talks with Laws at a management training course last week.
And now the former Nottingham Forest defender is quietly confident he can lure the Wales boss to Glanford Park.
"It was interesting to talk to him," said Laws.
"We had a general chat to see whether he would come to Scunthorpe United because I think it would be fantastic for the club.
"He didn't say no which is a bonus and I will see him again at another management course next week and, hopefully, manipulate him into saying yes."
Macclesfield Town also want the former Manchester United star but whether Hughes is prepared to finish his playing career in the Third Division remains to be seen.
