ROVERS keeper, and Republic of Ireland international, Alan Kelly has resigned himself to the fact that he will start the World Cup finals on the bench.
Kelly is currently behind Newcastle stopper Shay Given in the Republic pecking order but the 33-year-old is just happy to be part of Mick McCarthy's squad as they put the finishing touches to their preparations in the Far East.
"I know what my role is with the Republic," said Kelly. "I would love to play, of course I would, but Shay has done well for Mick in recent games.
"I am just delighted to be at another World Cup.
"I went to USA 94 with Jack Charlton's team and that was a fantastic experience and one which I'll never forget.
"This World Cup is taking place in another culture and I know it will be another brilliant trip."
