A NEW superstore in Burnley could be built on stilts if planning officers approve an application.
Work is currently under way on Red Lion Street and on the car park off Centenary Way to put in a new junction and car parking, which will form part of the new Tesco store.
The company has submitted plans to Burnley Council to build the food store on stilts with car parking on the ground floor and travellators to the food superstore above.
The store will still be providing car parking for 400 vehicles, but the area around the store which previously would have been used for car parking will be improved with landscaping.
