LEIGH'S jubilee celebrations will be music to the ears.
On Sunday, June 2, Pennington Park promises a right royal good time when it hosts "Music in the Park".
Wigan Council's parks services has joined forces with youth workers and the police to organise the event which runs from 1pm to 4pm.
It will feature music from Tyldesley Band and a jazz quartet, five-a-side football, bowling and face painting.
The parks service will also seek visitors' views on providing a band stand in the park.
Proposed plans will site the stand, which will double as a community venue, in the middle of the park.,
Community liaison officer Anne Cockram said the idea had already won the backing of young people.
She said: "We will have a display of ideas and if people support the idea we can look for help with funding the project."
