ORGANISERS of a large dance event in the Ribble Valley today reassured residents they have nothing to worry about.
Preston nightclub Feel, which hosts fortnightly events at the University Of Central Lancashire, is holding an event on Sunday, June 2 at De Tabley in Ribchester.
With some of the area's best-known DJs attending, tickets have almost sold out for the event, which will be called 'Carry On for Britain.'
But Ribchester residents fear the village will be swamped with thousands of ravers.
Tim Pearson, organiser of Feel, said: "We have permission from the council to hold this event and it will be in a function room, not just out in a field.
"We held a similar event last year in August and there were no problems.
"I would like to assure residents that there will be no problems this year. We are the jewel in the crown of the entertainments programme at the University and we take pride in our reputation."
Coun Brian Collis, councillor for Ribchester, said: "I know last year's event went well and without problem so I don't see why people need to worry."
A spokesman for Ribble Valley Council said the event had been approved by the council.
