HINDLEY boxer Mark Paxford lost his unbeaten record in controversial and disappointing circumstances.
Paxford lost on points to Bradford's Gavin Pearson, but even Pearson's manager was lost for words when his boxer was declared the winner.
One of Pearson's training partners and good friends is the Commonwealth Champion James Hare, and even he thought that Pearson had only won one of the six rounds!
The referee however, thought differently, and scored the contest 59-58, meaning that he thought Paxford had only won one round out of the six -- with two to Pearson and three rounds level.
Paxford finished the fight virtually unmarked, while Pearson required five stitches to a bad cut over his left eye, and did well to survive the sixth round of the contest as the Hindley fighter looked close to a stoppage victory.
