Oulton Raiders 0, Leigh Miners Rangers 50
LEIGH Miners Rangers rampaged into the inaugural National Conference League Premier Division Grand Final with a nine-try demolition of red-hot favourites Oulton.
But in this Saturday's final at Rochdale's Spotland Stadium, the Miners will be up against the best in the business - West Hull.
Wests have just completed a fourth successive National Conference League Championship as well as winning the BARLA National Cup.
Miners victory at Oulton wasn't just a success, it was a total triumph.
Oulton looked leg-weary but were never given time to settle as Miners loose forward Tommy Goulding gave an inspirational display that his colleagues were keen to follow. Young centre Simon Hartley weighed in with two tries and seven goals as the Miners swept to victory.
It was a Goulding break that set up the first try, sending winger Craig Graham racing in for a Hartley-goaled score. Hartley banged over a penalty and then latched on to a pass from Aussie stand-off Craig Wilson to claim a second try.
The Miners were in devastating form and an astute kick from sub Mick Warburton was pounced on by Grant Parker and with Hartley goaling, the Miners were 20-0 up.
In the final three minutes of the half Hartley and Goulding blasted in for tries for a 30-0 interval lead.
The Miners got the early second half try when winger Glen Bracek sprinted clear for a sixth try. Parker went in for his second try and Goulding added his second before Steve Flannery claimed Leigh's ninth try and Hartley put over his seventh goal.
