A LEIGH women's group will search for a society star this summer.
Soroptimist International of Leigh's new branch president, Gill Bowyer, is keen to promote a Youth in the Community Award.
Gill, a former Leigh Girls' Grammar School pupil, takes over the mantle from Lorraine Skeech, who has had a successful year in office supporting charities and sponsored litter picking, bulb and tree planting schemes for Leigh.
Job Centre manager Gill, lives in Leigh with her husband, Dave, and son, Gareth. She enjoys reading, music and cross stitch.
Her themes for the year are health, environment and the status of women, and she is a supporter of the ongoing Soroptimist charity, the Limbs for Life Campaign.
Further details for nominating a young person between 14 and 25 for the award will be announced shortly by the group, a women's international service organisation for women in business and the professions.
The new president elect of the Leigh club is Mrs Christine Law.
