DREAMS turned sour for a Leigh family when plans to buy a new home fell through at the last minute.
Amanda Calland, of Holden Road, says in February she put a reservation deposit on a new house in Fieldfare Close at Lowton. She was expecting to pay £115,000 for the Andrew's Homes property, but was told the week the contract was due to be exchanged, that the asking price had increased by £12,000.
Amanda was planning to move into the four bedroom detached home with her partner Andrew and their two children at the beginning of June, after the sale of their current house was completed.
They have now been forced to take their own house off the market and are back to square one.
Amanda said: "I know the builder is quite within his legal rights to do this, but I would never have expected it to happen. I could have put my house price up to cover the increase, but didn't think that was right."
The house Amada had set her heart on, along with two other properties in the same cul-de-sac, are now up for sale with Ian's Estate Agents.
Andrew Fernley, of Andrew's Homes, declined to comment on the situation.
