ASHLEY SIDDLE and Michael Hunt suffered disappointing form at the Brabazon Trophy in Kent last weekend.
Burnley golfer Hunt missed the cut after rounds of 78 and 75 - having scored 74 to qualify the previous day.
Rossendale's Siddle also missed the cut. He didn't need to qualify because of his quarter-final finish at the English Amateur Championships last year.
The 18-year-old said: "I was rubbish. It just didn't go off for me. I was seven or eight over in the first round and I knew I wouldn't make the cut.
"In the second round I was three under after six holes but finished six over. It was tough, the hardest conditions I have ever had to play in, on a links course as well.
"I learned a lot though, it will be good with the county championships coming up this weekend."
Both Siddle and Hunt have entered the Lancashire Amateur which starts at Fairhaven on Saturday.
"That's the one," said Hunt. "There will be a lot of guys there who can win it but I am looking forward to it."
Hunt was disappointed with his putting at Brabazon and felt it had cost him a place in the final two rounds.
"It was my putting, as simple as that.
"I played great golf, solid golf but I just kept putting it everywhere.
"I was really miffed. In qualifying I didn't play great, just solid. I got out on the course and I was still hitting it well but not putting."
"I had nine three putts. I had about 38 putts and you need about 10 less than that to have a chance."
