UNSWORTH's Sri Lankan professional Pasan Wanansinghe will be going all out to force his way into his country's Test team after being given the chance to shine this week.

Wanansinghe, who has just begun his third season with Unsworth, has been called up by his country for the tour match against Glamorgan which began in Cardiff yesterday.

The 31-year-old all-rounder has previously played in a sixes tournament in Hong Kong for his country and turned out against England for a Sri Lankan Presidents XI side in Colombo. He has clocked up around 16 appearances for the Sri Lankan A team.

A source close to Sri Lankan coach Dav Whatmore said that Wanansinghe is well-thought of and has a chance of squeezing into the one-day side if he impresses against Glamorgan. Whether that will lead to a full Test appearance is dependent on how he performs, if selected, in the one-dayer.

Little Lever professional Sajeewa De Silva has also been called up by Sri Lanka. He has previously played for the Test side.

Wanansinghe travelled down to Cardiff on Wednesday after playing in Unsworth's rain-delayed Wood Cup game against Milnrow at Pole Lane.
