BURY Sports Advisory Council's Jubilee Sports Week looks like being a bumper eight days of action.

The Council have been busy with various sporting organisations in the town and have come up with a wide and varied calendar.

The big aim is to give people the chance to try their hands at the different activities over the week and there should be something for everyone as this full schedule shows:

SATURDAY JUNE 1

ROCHDALE COMPANY OF ARCHERS will put on a demonstration of archery and invite everyone to go along to the Castle Leisure Centre between 2pm and 5pm and have a go!

This event is open to all ages and all levels of fitness, whether disabled or able bodied and complete beginners are welcome.

SUNDAY, JUNE 2

BURY CLARION CYCLING AND ATHLETIC CLUB have organised a 10km (62.5 mile) Reliability Trial with six climbs that total 2,000 metres.

The ride starts at 10am and riders should sign on at McDonald's at the Woodfield Retail Park, Bury from 9.30am. Entry fee is £2.

BURY CYCLE SPEEDWAY CLUB have a home match against Coventry at their Goshen track beginning at 2pm.

There will be an opportunity to 'come and try it' from 12 noon. Bikes and safety equipment will be provided along with free specialist tuition from club members.

MONDAY, JUNE 3

WALSHAW SPORTS CLUB are holding a Jubilee Under 13s six-a-side cricket knockout which is open to teams from all over the Bury area.

There will be entertainment, food, refreshments etc and full details can be obtained from Chris Johnson on 0161-763 3865.

ELTON CRICKET CLUB have arranged a match between their Under-18s and Under-15s beginning at midday. The game will be followed by a 'social challenge' of bowls, darts, dominoes and pool.

TUESDAY, JUNE 4

BURY DISTRICT BOWLERS are holding a doubles and singles competition in Openshaw Park beginning at 10.30am. Details from Neville McWilliams on 0161-764 8536.

BURY ANGLING ASSOCIATION & ELTON SAILING CLUB are putting on a one day sailing regatta open to all north west sailing clubs.

There should be a lot of keen competitive sailing and members of the public are invited to go along and see just what sailing has to offer. For further details contact Chris McClung on 01706 824141.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5

BURY & DISTRICT ANGLING SOCIETY are holding a Junior Open Match on Island Lodge, Tottington. The draw will be made at 5.30pm with the match held from 6pm to 9pm.

THURSDAY, JUNE 6

BURY & DISTRICT ANGLING SOCIETY have organised a Senior Match at Island Lodge, Tottington. Draw 5.30pm. Match from 6pm to 9.30pm.

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

JUNE 5 & 6

BURY DISTRICT ROUNDERS LEAGUE are running a full programme of league and cup fixtures.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

BURY CYCLE SPEEDWAY CLUB are holding another 'have a go' session and static display from 12 noon onwards at their Goshen track. Anyone interested can borrow a bike and safety equipment and get expert tuition on how to negotiate a cycle speedway track successfully.
