WHY do station announcers now feel obliged to fib? The 12.49 out of Blackburn to Clitheroe the other day never appeared due to a 'bridge bash' at Darwen.
Yet passengers waiting at Blackburn were kept thinking it would arrive eventually -- until 13.43.
Then we were informed it would be 'terminated' at Blackburn. Why not give the facts in the beginning, then people could at least go somewhere warm -- not Blackburn station -- and await the next train in relative peace?
A not dissimilar situation occurred at Clitheroe on April 30: The 07.55 was going to be 25 minutes late, so it should have arrived at 08.20. Wrong! It left the station at 08.15.
So, if like me you had gone for a walk, you missed it!
J KENT (Mr), Fairfield Close, Clitheroe.
