YET another rail tragedy! Where else are these cracked rails and loose nuts? Will they be found and repaired, or will there be another accident?
A derailment on one of East Lancashire's viaducts, Burnley, Whalley or Accrington, where the train wheels scream as the train approaches the station, doesn't bear thinking about.
But until the rails are inspected regularly and carefully by experienced railmen and repaired immediately, there will continue to be needless tragedies on the railway.
Since its inception, the Socialist Alliance has been calling for renationalisation of the railways.
We don't want to be proved right about poor standards of maintenance on the railways; what we want is a safe, reliable system back in the ownership of the people.
A HESSAN (Burnley Socialist Alliance), Sycamore Avenue, Burnley.
