DO you still believe in magic? Mystique opened its dark doors at Blackpool Pleasure Beach last Friday and proved once again that if something ain't broke, don't fix it.
Just add some eye-catching new costumes and daring dance routines to the magical mix and voila! -- another spellbinding summer smash from Stageworks Worldwide Productions.
Richard De Vere's Master Of Illusion slices up, squashes into small boxes and spirits away a succession of lithe ladies with the greatest of ease aided by his three gorgeous guardians, Mark Lowler, Phillip Needham and Ian Oswald.
Wonderful Wayne Daniels is back again with his messed up magic tricks and an old friend, Andy Pandy (another new role for comic compere Tom Bright), returns with Looby Lou in a laddish skit.
But the dancing makes the night magical. Choreographer Nikki Alexander has pulled a real powerhouse of a performance out of the box for 2002 with a remix of Madonna's Beautiful Stranger for the boys and girls dressed in sexy black and red, along with an elegant Eastern-inspired number in full dress and fans.
Standouts from a talented troupe are Kelly Willars and Joe Hartford for the girls and the far too lovely Ian Oswald for the boys, who also joins songbird Nikita Scott this year in an impressive duet.
Mystique, produced and directed by Amanda Thompson, is at the Horseshoe showbar, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, daily until November 3 with tickets from £5 to £13. Call (0870) 4445588 for bookings and details.
