THE race is on in Ramsbottom to get the flags flying in time for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Since being turned down for a National Lottery grant the town has been working hard to raise the £5,000-plus needed to fund the weekend of celebrations.
Last week, a cake and goods sale was held at the Lifelong Learning Centre.
And pictured flying the flag for the Queen's Golden Jubilee are (from left) Marie Caldwell, Bury Woman of the Year; David East, helper at the fund-raising event; Carol Wright, bursar of the Lifelong Learning Centre; Jane Atkinson, helper; Linda de Ruijter, organiser of Ramsbottom's Golden Jubilee celebrations; and seated is visitor to the event Mary Evans.
The good news was that the event put the organisers, the Ramsbottom Business Forum, on track to stage a country show in Nuttall Park along with other events.
