A BURY school took bullying by the horns when they attended a special conference in London.
Nadia Begdouri and Sarah Cullen from Broad Oak High School represented the North West at the recent National Anti-Bullying Conference.
Youngsters from 18 schools across the country took part in the event with a member of the Youth Parliament, listening on behalf of Education Minister Estelle Morris, to the views of delegates.
The aim of the conference was to examine issues relating to bullying in secondary schools and to see what can be done to help both the bully and the victim.
Nadia and Sarah, both aged 15, acted out a play to illustrate their points.
Mrs Viv Smith, Broad Oak's education welfare officer, working in conjunction with the Children's Society, organised the visit and accompanied Nadia and Sarah to the conference.
She said: "The girls were tremendous. I am very proud of the way they performed. The conference was a great opportunity for them to put over their thoughts about bullying."
Nadia and Sarah received certificates and gift vouchers in appreciation of their participation. They have also been involved with making an anti-bullying video which will be used in schools in the North West.
