A TOWN which has waited 28 years for a Mayor will see him walk in an annual parade without his chain because of a problem with insurance.
Mayor of Padiham Coun Granville Lord cannot wear his full regalia in the traditional Trinity Sunday march from St John the Baptist RC Church, in St John's Road, on Sunday.
A problem with the insurance means Coun Lord has been told go without the chains or walk with the Deputy Mayor of Burnley at another church.
Burnley Council's support services manager Ian Wolstencroft said: "Padiham Town Council is in the process of making new insurance arrangements for the chains and in the meantime they are insured through Burnley Council's insurance policy."
