EVEN the rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the crowd at last week's Longton fte.
Turnout at the annual village summer event was good, despite rain slowing the procession.
And dozens turned out to enjoy the colourful day, including a number of local dignitaries.
Former South Ribble Mayor, Councillor Alan Hackett, was on hand to open the fte and give a speech, and the borough's MP David Borrow could be seen admiring the stalls. Rodney Rigby, secretary of the fte, said: "Despite the rain when the procession started, there was a good turnout of people.
"The procession was excellent and certainly the people who took part in the fte were very pleased."
Floats from local groups braved the rain, including the Longton Community Church Kid's Klub and a gipsy caravan.
Dozens of activities were available to keep the whole family amused -- from a range of stalls to a fun fair and five-a-side football match.
Sponsored by local firms including Chorley Nissan and Booth's supermarkets, the day also featured musical entertainment by the Leyland Pipes and Drums group, the Brindle Brass Band and the Concertina Band, from Merseyside.
