SIX students from Fylde Tae Kwondo, Ansdell, competed in an Opening Sparring Competition in Sheffield, and came home with two second places.
Fourteen-year-old Chris Wood has only been training for six months and yet managed to beat off more experienced fighters to be a runner-up in the light weight group. Club instructor Andrew Reakes (18), a week after gaining his second Dan, was runner-up in the welter-weight category.
Senior instructor Kevan Callaghan was delighted with his students' achievements and is now preparing them for their return to Sheffield in November to compete in the BTU Nationals.
To add to the club's success, 13-year-old Matthew Eaton returned from the Robert L. Wright Memorial Poomse (pattern competition) in Thornton with a silver trophy in the intermediate group.
There are still a few membership places available. For details ring (01253) 728418.
