PRESTWICH Thai Boxing Club have a star in the making in 20-year-old Radcliffe girl Becky Berry.
Becky, ranked No 3 in England in the 49 kilo class, is due to fight Bad Company girl Nicola Fearnley from Leeds for the Northern Area title later this year after punching her way to the showdown, following no less than 11 elimination round victories.
Becky, who works at the Asda supermarket in Radcliffe, trains out of the Prestwich club, based in Warwick Street, and also goes through her routines at the club's gym in Bradley Fold.
Her coach, Richard Lewis, also from Radcliffe, is the British Thai Boxing Lightweight champion, northern lightweight champion and northern super lightweight champion. The club also has links with Bury Thai Boxing Club and interested parties from junior beginners to seniors are invited to ring 0161-773 5892 or 07973 697683 for further details. The club is due to open to the public on June 4.
