REGARDING the speed traps and fines imposed on drivers by the police, I think it is absolutely disgusting that they cannot spend their time doing more worthwhile duties, such as attending to serious criminal damage caused by burglars, rapists, muggers, etc.

I am nearly 80 and a motorist, but now I have been fined.

When I wanted police help after a personal attack, nothing happened to help me or to catch the culprits. But it didn't take the police long to send me my prosecution notices.

Why don't they get their priorities right? I am not a criminal, but I was given to believe I was from them.

The real criminals are not being investigated and prosecuted, because police are adopting an easy attitude to increase their coffers by taking £60 from people like me who are just travelling in my own town.

Why could they not have introduced cautionary advice to motorists early on instead of fining them? They would have had more respect and co-operation from the public.
