A TEENAGER was fighting for his life today after an alleged attack in a club.
Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident in Churchills, Cannon Street, Accrington, at about 1am yesterday.
Gavin Tattersall, 18, is on life support at Blackburn Royal Infirmary and described as being in a serious condition.
Paramedics alerted police after treating Gavin at the scene and taking him to hospital.
Police said the incident started inside the bar and ended at the front door.
The club is believed to have remained open after the alleged attack.
Two people from Accrington and one from Rossendale were being questioned today.
The family of the teenager, of Cambridge Drive, Padiham, were at his bedside.
A man who answered the door today said: "I can't talk now, I am going to the hospital where my son is dying."
Sharon Wilkinson, who owns the Wilkinson off licence and newsagents in Cambridge Drive, said Gavin was very well liked and a pleasant youngster.
She said he had lived at home with his stepdad Sean, mum Yvonne and sister Toyah.
Mrs Wilkinson said Gavin had worked with his stepdad as a window cleaner in the streets around Cambridge Drive.
Mrs Wilkinson said Gavin had gone to the club in Accrington with a group of friends.
She said: "This is a terrible thing to happen. Gavin is such a pleasant and polite lad. He was very quiet but well liked.
"He used to come into the shop on most days and was always very courteous and well spoken.
"This is a terrible waste. The family must feel as if their heart has been ripped out."
Another woman who asked not to be identified said: "He is a lovely lad. Lots of people round here knew him and liked him.
"There were a huge number of people at his bedside at the hospital on Saturday night which just shows how popular he was."
