BLACKBURN newspaper boys qualified for the National Finals which were staged at Brokhall by winning there regional finals.
Blackburn had an excellent run of results which led them to the Quarter-Finals stages were they were finally beaten by the North-East who defeated Blackburn 1-0 after a tight game.
The team who defeated Blackburn the North-East qualified for the final were they lost to London the eventual winners of the competition.
Solly Khonat the organiser of the event said, "It was a great day out, the facilities were excellent and the boys felt honoured to be playing in these facilities." Mr Khonat had required about using the facilities and he was pleased that Blackburn Rovers had accepted his offer.
The trophy and medals will be presented to the winners during half-time of a Blackburn Rovers home game next season. Rovers talisman Matt Jansen was unable to attend the presentation of the medals as he was in hospital having a double hernia operation.
Jansen had played for the Sunderland Newspaper Boys 5-a-side team in competitions like this one before he made it as a professional footballer.
