THREE men were due to be charged with murder today following the death of a teenager who was allegedly attacked in an Accrington nightclub.
Police confirmed that Gavin Tattersall, 18, of Cambridge Drive, Padiham, died yesterday at Blackburn Infirmary following the incident in the early hours of Sunday.
Doorman Ian Britcliffe, 42, of John Street, Clayton-le-Moors, and his son Christopher Britcliffe, 21, also of John Street, were to appear before Blackburn Magistrates along with another doorman, Kenneth Halstead, 41, of South View, Haslingden.
All three men were arrested after the incident, at Churchills, Cannon Street, Accrington, around 1am.
They were initially charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm but police said the charge would be amended after the teenager lost his battle for life.
Det Insp Peter Broome, of Accrington CID, said: "Gavin Tattersall died yesterday at 5pm. The charges against the three men will now been amended to murder."
Gavin lived at home with his stepdad Sean, mum Yvonne and sisters Kelly and Toyah. He worked as a window cleaner with his stepdad in the Cambridge Drive area.
Police said the incident started inside the bar and ended at the front door.
Club assistant manager Angela Calvert said customers were kept inside for questioning by police but that the bar was closed and music switched off immediately.
Police appealed for people with information to contact them on 01254 353741 or 0800 555 111.
